Using Pre-Release versions
Use With Caution
Pre-release versions are early "hot off the press" releases. You may encounter defects or features that are not fully complete. Please us with caution and revert to the current release if needed.
What is a pre-release version?
A pre-release version of Pirform is an early preview version. It may contain features or improvements that are work-in-progress and which may not have gone through our full testing regime.
We make pre-release versions avaialble for two main reasons:
- Testing new versions and features before release.
- Early access to defect fixes.
What restrictions are there in pre-release versions?
Pre-release versions are fully working versions of Pirform. But, there is one important restriction: older versions of Pirform cannot import certificates from export files created by newer versions. This means that you cannot use a pre-release version to share certificates with any engineers who are not using the same pre-release version or a later version.
Why are pre-release versions not recommended for live work?
As well as not being able to share certificates with earlier versions, any defects found in work-in-progress features are likely to take longer than usual to fix and could cause delays to your jobs. It is for these reasons that we do not recommend using Pirform for live jobs.
How can I revert to the current version?
You can easily revert to the main version of Pirform by downloading and installing the latest release version from our download page.
